Anamorphing CMOS sensor

Is there a possibility to re-select assigned horizontal lines of the CMOS sensors used to record video to the center of the sensor? Wouldn't it create an anamorphic squeeze to the picture and help with artifacts? Is it possible through magic lantern?

in theory, yes.
its just about reverse engineering a 50m huge pile of aegyptian hieroglyphs by 2-3 people.

short: can not be done within reasonable time.

Shooting on an anamorphic sensor instead of using fixed focus lenses sounds like a major upgrade. It would be highly desirable. I'd pay for that dearly on any dslr
