Feature Requests / Re: film style "flash frame" effect

Definitely do it in post. Magic Lantern is more about unlocking canons limits, not special fx.

General Help Q&A / Re: Video stops first time (550D)

I think that solved the problem! Thanks Gilpin.
Great spotting. I'll continue to test and see if it happens again.
But it seemed like it worked fine so far.
Thanks again.

I tried this again even having the camera on for a short period, still happens.

I've guessed the same thing about maybe it's because it's when one records quickly after the camera is turned on.
I'll play around with leaving the camera on for a few more seconds before I try to record.
All my settings are pretty standard, as in; no fps override, no hdr, no exp override, no bit rate override, iso auto, white balance custom, global draw was on (and it happened with and without focus peak).

I've been getting a problem on my 550d. When I switch the camera on and record video, it records for a couple of seconds then says that it's automatically stopped recording. Then when I hit record again it works. I'm not sure what's going on with that initial first recording.

Or if you have skill you can implement something like:

Canon should have used the dev time to implement a game like pong in the firmware :-p

I second this in camera pong.

There is no way to extend the limit yet. The limit is in the file size, not the length of time. The size being 4gb. You can change the video mode to 640x480 and record for longer. You could probably drop the bit rate and record for longer.
There is the option for auto restart in the camera though, a second or two of video will be dropped as it restarts back up. But if you have multiple cameras, start one recording 30 seconds after, then switch between them in post.

Feature Requests / Syncing two cameras
September 06, 2012, 09:26:53 AM
I question how pointless this feature would be:

I do recall a few years ago checking out something that was like a CHDK fork (SDM) which allowed two point and shoot cameras to focus and capture the same as each other to allow for 3D photography.

Ultimately after syncing start/stop of a video the next problem is focus (usually needing an accurate duel follow focus rig) but ML has the option to focus via the arrow buttons, can these output so that when the button is pressed on one camera the other camera can detect it as well?

Feature Requests / Re: Custom video-size

Taking a random guess here but; I don't think h.264 codec allows for random resolutions, it has specifics that it abides by.

Hey tacotacotaco,

The problem comes to the fact that the video file is tagged at the framerate from what you've changed it to.
So if you're on 50 fps on 720p, and you change it to 25 fps, (Pal), then the video will play back twice as fast.
It speeds up the 25 to 50, as a result only half the audio can be saved because you are chopping the length in half.
I've questioned whether the frame rate tag can be changed depending on the fps override and apparently it can not.

Lenny.
