If I don't choose raw video when using ML is there any change in the video codec that magic lantern applies or is as the camera would normally record without ML loaded. I am using a canon 6d

cheers :)

Raw isn't a codec, it's uncompressed. If it's switched off you will get H.264.

OK is the same H.264 that the camera records without ML benign loaded and if so is there anyway of adjusting the h.264?

Thanks

With most builds you can adjust h.264 bit-rate, mostly helps in low light situations, turning it up to over 1.5 can cause recording to unexpectedly stop (this value is somewhat camera dependent).
