I don't know where exactly discussion about raw video began (so I don't know if is this new topic) but i have one question:

Is it possible to make something like interlaced raw video? I mean vertical line skipping. Reason:

I have 650D, I am not pro user so I dont want invest to 5D mkIII or dedicated video camera but I dont like moire. Somewhere here I read about raw 5x zoom mode on 650D (w/o line skipping). But with standart lens is it hardly usable zoom (18mm * 5 = 90mm).

My question is if there is possibility for 3x zoom with line skipping and interlacing. I believe that with some post processing there will by reduced moire and due interlacing only half bitrate compared to real 3x crop - as I understand this (bitrate) is limiting factor on 650D why only 5x zoom is possible when talking abou 1:1 image.

If is it possible, maybe we can try "double interlaced" video (with row and cols skipping). I know there will by only half resolution but if it's w/o moire it is acceptable for home users like me.

And second question: Is it possible to feed with this cropped image h264 encoder in camera so we will have similar functionality (3x crop) like on 600D?

Line skipping has moire by definition. It's possible, but it's a waste of time IMO.

yes i know that line skipping has moire but idea is have in first frame only odd rows and in second frame only even rows. So in two frames we have full scene information and we can create effective post filter.

But ok, I don't have experiance with this stuff so I believe you :-).

And the second question? Is it possible to feed h264 encoder with 3x zoom (crop) raw data? So there will be no issue with SD card speed.

I have no idea how to do that.

::) Interlaced recording will be very handy to achieve 1920x1080 60i... (requires just 1920x324 60p bandwidth)
