Hey guys, so I am soon going to be getting a DSLR and the main contenders are Canon 60D and Nikon D5300. The main attraction of the 60d for me is Magic Lantern ofcourse. Now i have a few questions that I would be very obliged if someone answers. I will be getting a SanDisk 64GB Extreme U3/UHS-I SDXC  whose write speed is greater than the 60d's 20mb/s bottleneck.

1. Shooting in RAW and RAW HDR is different right?
2. I saw the comparison table and what I want to know is, what is the resolution for shooting continuously in HDR RAW Video @24p (effectively 50p)? Is it the same as the res mentioned in the table which I assume is only for RAW Video?

Don't know exactly what you mean by RAW HDR.
There are two options:
-RAW video with dual iso (Switches iso every 2 lines within the same frame)
-RAW video with HDR mode (Switches iso every frame, don't know if it still exists...)

But doesn't matter for you question, both types will give you the same recording length as within normal RAW video:

If you're buying a camera for video, you can see in the sheet that the Canon 650d has a faster SD controller, and will give you continuous Raw recording of 1280 x 720 resolution (60d -> 960 x 540)
Although the 60d has bigger memory buffer, so short(few seconds) high resolution video is better with the 60d...

Hi there, thank you for replying.

I meant the HDR Magic Lantern Video Samples available on the internet. Which I believe switch ISO every frame. Which means that if you need to get 24 frames per second, you would actually need to record in 48 frames per second since this number will be halved when frames are merged in post.

The only way to record 48 fps in raw is in 720p mode. (48fps in 1080p resolution is not possible on any Canon that runs Magic Lantern at the moment)
720p mode skips extra lines to be able to do twice the normal framerate.
The real resolution of your raw files in 720p are not 1728 x 694 but become 1728 x 416. (that's the factor 1.67x in the comparison sheet)
This results in an image that needs to be stretched vertical in software, a video editor.

So although you're framerate becomes twice as fast, you're real resolution becomes a factor 1.67 smaller.
So in 48fps or 50fps mode, you're frames are 1.67 smaller in size, and your framerate is twice as high, so raw recording times become a little shorter, but not twice as much shorter.

I never used the HDR mode, newer available options like "dual iso" in combination with "raw video" seems to be a much better option.
With dual iso there's no need to shoot 48fps...

Ah... forgive for being an utter noob. I am upgrading from a point and shoot.

I wrongly assumed that since 960x540 is my camera's limit, it would stay the same in 720p mode since 1280x720 lies above this mark.

The Dual ISO thing seems pretty damn amazing. Holy cow. Is this compatible with Canon 60d?

Levas

Dual iso works on 60d.

You probably know this one already, raw video topic for 60d
