Hello,
I installed RAW functionality about a year ago and lost ability to turn the camera on without the ML (Nightly Build) SD card. I searched and found that there is a way to turn the bootflag back on in the camera, but am not gettig good results.
After updating the firmware with a bootable ML card, I am getting a message:

"
MAIN_FIRMWARE flag is DISABLED!
Please contact ML developers for a fix.

Please restart your camera.
"

Please help.
Thanks!

Walter Schulz

Remove battery, remove card.
Format card in cardreader.
Insert card and battery and startup cam. Report results.

MaximNY

I am getting a following message (after formating the card):

"
Firmware update program
Update file cannot be found.
PLease check the memory card and reload the battery and try again.
"

I tried to do this many times and it still gives me the same message.
The only way the camera works is when I insert a bootable ML SD card.

Thanks Walter! Appreciate your help!

Walter Schulz

Sorry, but I asked to insert a blank - formatted - card and startup cam.
Does this work or not?

MaximNY

I was able to fix the problem
I loaded Canon firmware 1.2.3 on the CF card and inserted it in the camera
Started the camera using the bootable SD card with ML on it.
In the MENU settings Upgraded firmware.

I would like to keep using ML on the card without disabling the boot flag.
Any suggestions?

Thanks!

MaximNY

Walter Schulz

Yes, delete ML directory and autoexec.bin and *.fir and copy extracted nightly build contents for 5D3.123 to card.

Problem fixed!

ML Loaded and able to Enable/Disable boot flag.

Thank You Walter!
