Feature Requests / Photo Matching on live view
June 06, 2017, 10:59:54 PM
I was wondering if there was a way to show a dimmed version of a photo while on live view. That way one could use that photo to match its orientation while taking a new photo. This would allow easy cheesy photos of your self twice in the same picture on different days or even different years. It would allow you to pose for a project you started today and finished a year later. You could take a photo that is old and add your subject to it in the same location at different times. The key is to be able to orient the camera to get the background to be almost exactly the same. This for example could be used to show before and after photos of new urban development or even of war or other such life changing event that transforms a place where you took the initial photo. I think its a bit of a challenge, but who knows, maybe its possible.

I didn't get a chance to try yesterday. But the image was not over exposed. I do have to shoot a little under exposed according to the meter, but it hasn't bothered me enough to go change the exposure compensation. what is the difference between shooting at a darker exposure and exposure override?.. gotta read up on that right now....

and today...

Ok it looks like the issue comes from the raw to jpeg translation that the camera does.

Also Darktable had this default set applied and when I remove it and just leave a sharpen, I get this:
which is ever more betterer.

who knew jpegs sucked so much? wow!

Ok, I was using RAW so today when I get back to my office I will check if it looks as good as the live view. You are probably right and its just the jpeg encoder blurring the image. hmmm, now I'm really curious. I might have to quit my job so I can get home quicker :)

So I have two old manual lenses and a canon 6D and I noticed something yesterday. I just got a takumar 35 F3.5 last week and I really wanted an OK sharpness out of it. So I did a quick test with magic ZOOM. I zoomed into the letters on an LCD screen. I could clearly see the small font on the camera's LCD screen using Magic Zoom but on the actual picture the edges of the letters were all bleed into/washed out. What gives?  when I get back home I will try to do the same with some other object like the letter on a lens, illuminated by sun light. I'm pretty sure there is something bad going on. I'll post some pictures of this in action. has anyone else seen this? is it normal? or if not, what did you do to correct it? maybe my settings were all screwed up. it was indoors with an ISO of 8000 probably wide open. But again wide open preview, the letters were perfect, while in the same condition the letters were blurred in the final image.

regards,
