I'll be standing by you with all of my support for this...

I came across a deal that turned out to be too good to pass on and decided to scoop up on a decent 50D body with only less than 5K shutter counts directly from an original owner on OfferUp.com. It even came w a 4GB CF card. Ha!

I personally felt that @reddeercity has done a tremendous job with an enormous amount of work already put onto this very project for the Digic 4 bodies which literally got me to jump onto this wagon. Rightfully so. Thank you, David!

Never thought I'd ever buy an 11-year old digital camera body but hey never say never, right? ;)

More to come...

Yet another great follow-up by @a1ex and thank you for taking the time to thoroughly explain your behalf on this remarkable thread started by @Luther! :)

Definitely looked like he used a CPF. These skies are lookin' deep in a good way. Thanks for sharing how marvelous this artistic lens can be @ZEEK!

I already add info about camera, so some exif/metadata is there. But I will add lens info and time/date now.

Gotcha. Good to know. Just thought it wasn't included because MLV_App wasn't showing any info after it's been processed through raw2mlv via Switch. Hmm?

Hence the video of screen recording I posted above.

just realised I need to add date and time to raw2mlv output!

Yep. Thanks @Ilia3101! :)

Possible to also also the exif data as well?

Fantastic work, @Danne! I'm diggin' this progress regardless of how Catastrophy it feels. Thank YOU!  8)

However, it has caught my attention that if you export the final process image as CinemaDNG it's a corrupted file.

But if exported as a TIFF or PNG which then works fine. Is this to be expected when exporting Photo Files?  :o

Booyah... This is all feeling like 2014 again. Love this @Danne even tho it may very well be a bit Catastrophy but hey it works!

Even better to be able to play with Dual-ISO photos within MLV_App is actually godsend. Just seems a bit slow tho. :)

Here I was able to somewhat duplicate the look of Ektar 100 LUT's with an old photo taken in ISO 100/1600 below...

Though I was under the impression that it would be ideal to have this done w Cineon Profile but I couldn't get it to look right.

Used Reinhard 3/5 & Alexa Wide Gamut RGB as Tonemapping Function/Processing Gamut options instead.

Applied the ML Cinelog-C to Ektar 100 TWISTED LUT on top w opacity set @ 80% or so within MLV_App.

The prompt messages while running Switch especially the final beep is indeed remarkable!  :-*

I,m starting to feel imbecile trying to get the latest revised mlv_dump to work with Switch, Compiler & MLV_App too while on Catalina...  :-\

Edit:

It's been fixed — Thanks @Danne & @Ilia3101!

@Andy600 -- I just upgraded to Catalina and thus had to update Adobe Photoshop in order to run and now I've lost myself into a puddle of mud where I can't seem to find Camera Profiles within PS until I kept diggin' through and found them in...

https://vimeo.com/368938990

Was this to be expected? If so, maybe we should update the guidelines?

What's with Adobe making it even more difficult for us users? Gotta love using Cinelog-C stuff for RAW photos.

Especially if you want to mimic the film look that @hyalinejim created by combining Cinelog-C with Ektar 100 LUT's. It's indeed quite magical how it turns out!
#160
I'm not having any luck with this so far. Any hints?

Hell yeah baby @Ilia3101 welcome to the club!

Love the opening shot even though like you mentioned it may very well be slightly overexposed but hey I love the fact that you sticked with ETTR in beast mode. Well worth the hike and thanks for sharing your work. Please try the Reinhard 3/5 and these curves can be your best friends!

Holy fkin' ISO @ 111 is the shit, yo!  8)

Thanks for pointing this out @dfort -- will definitely give this a run right now.

Will let you know results as soon as I know.

*edit*

I just swapped out the mlv_dump file with the new one. Reran Switch and it's asking me to fix few things.

Looks like I'm gonna have to go back to the tutorial page. Stand by!

Thanks for sharing the temp fix @Danne -- gonna try this out out on my MBP running Catalina.

I need to get your Switch app working again for my Dual-ISO photo work.  :o

Have anyone tried those Cinegrain LUTs yet? They seem neat for film emulation.

That looks intriguing. Have you tried them personally?

Yes, I agree, Zeek but how do you get this nostalgic greenish-blueish tint, specific to certain old color slide films, in the footage?  This is not possible to achieve just from a certain lens or the settings that you listed.   This must be coming either from that specific Rec 709 LUT that you created and that probably features some serious disbalance between the color channels, with the green and blue channel dominating over the red channel.  Or you made a specific color grading that you applied to all clips in your video.  Some more details on your color grading workflow should be greatly appreciated.

That's some legendary stuff @paulheran!

What was the highest ISO used in this?

Care to share your workflow in post?

I had to watch this not only twice but thrice and indeed it's a masterpiece yet even for some minor work. Love the compositions.

You definitely applied your photography talents into a whole cinematic perspective.

Very well done @york824!

Nice request @Luther. Thanks @masc for the quick add-on. Sorry for the off-topic but I'm trying to get compiling to work on this mad oldie.

However, keep in mind this is not a priority since this is just a 3rd back up to my so called lab. Running El Captain on this miserable 2007 15" MBP which is still running pretty strong for it's age.

This is probably to be expected but after installing QT 5.6.0 to make my compiling environment work on this which seems to not allow for 10.11 according to the prompt message via Command Line in Terminal. Samples below.

As we know when reading the instructions via Mlv_App_compiler it states that it be can be used for OS X running 10.10 & onward when selecting 'op' via Command Line. What gives?

I've also ran through the script install 'U' three times in the last 24 hours to be sure it wasn't an user error. Even though it still could very well be.  ::)

Ah, yes. It will interfere with framing. Good catch. I should remove this module as it´s only needed for when looking for registry nad development.
Or just leave it disable when installing. Enable when needed for troubleshoot and tests.

Beautifully rendered @Luther and the contrast looks amazing especially coming from a 50 year old glass... :)
#174
Actually I am 110% with you on that @nikfreak!

That's some progress. Amazing work @dfort!
