Hello Magic Lantern Friends!

I am going to create some brilliant movies with Magic Lantern on my Canon 5D Mark III. I have such a parametrs:
- system: windows 8
- program to edit raw files: lightroom
- or also: davinci light version
- program to video edit: sony vegas

I do NOT have premiere or after effects

I consider two workflows.

First is:

1.) Convert the RAW to DNG
2.) Import DNG in Lightroom, rough corrections, edits
3.) Export very low quality JPEG's out of Lightroom / or maybe better TIFF files? What do you think about it?
4.) Import the JPEG's / or maybe TIFF??  in Sony Vegas as Sequence
5.) Happy editing in Sony Vegas, good performance on the timeline!

Second is:

1.) Convert the RAW to DNG
2.) Import DNG in Davinci, rough corrections, edits
3.) Export from Davinci... but I don't know what kind of format and what next... ? :(
4.) ......here I don't know what to do
5.) Happy editing in Sony Vegas, good performance on the timeline!

I really need the best quality and the most easy and fastest way to create raw videos.
Please help me.

Use tiff there is no need to step on your image (dng 14bit - jpeg 8bit)
you have Light Room That's a Adobe product, so if you have that way not get or use A.E. ?
If Vegas is the NLE of choice, I would do it 2 ways,
1) Tiff image sequence>NLE
2) Squared 5 - MPEG Streamclip video converter (free)
import tiff sequence and render out a AVI, or QT MOV.
On the PC I like Blackmagic RGB codec, its also  free

On Resolve I think you can do a Round trip with XML's from Vegas but I'm not sure.
But to export from there pick the highest resolution Codec, in this case "blackmagic rgb"
Just read up on the documentation with resolve it should explain it all.
I hope this helps  :)

Thanks, but what's the NLE?
Why do you think it's the best choice? I don't have After Effects.
Only Lighroom, Sony Vegas and DaVinci Light.

Vegas is good , I was a Vegas user from 4.5 to 9.0
There's no reason not to use it if you have it, it's a lot better now then in Version 9.0
There a steep learning curve for Resolve, so I would keep thing simple for now
until you learn resolve , use light room with ACR, export 16bit tiff and
or make video file from that or import tiff as a image sequence in to Vegas.
  :)

Edit: I think I will try a demo of Vegas & see how Raw works in there.
also doesn't Sony have a New free Grading software I heard about 6 Months ago ?

pianogirl

Really thanks for your message.
Now I understand more :)
I have Sony Vegas Pro 12 EDIT.
It would be great if you can show me the video of your demo workflow.

Could I ask what is ACR in ligh room? Sorry for such a questions, but I have just started my adventure with Magic Lantern...

Does Davinci Resolve can make my videos better and in higher quality than only useing Lightworks and Sony Vegas?

Best wishes!

Is there any easy way (tutorial) to use Lightworks and Sony Vegas while creating high level and professional video from ML (RAW)?
