After doing some research all the other features I envisioned for this camera are being developed and debugged already.
My Only Request is to undo the (purposeful?) limitation on the camera connection to the EOS Utility app primarily for remote shooting.

I'm afraid this requires reverse engineering the EOS utility.

Also, it's outside the scope of the ML project. ML is not about enabling features that Canon disabled, but about creating and experimenting with new stuff.

It goes into mass storage mode when USB is connected. Eos Movie Recorder and EOS utility do not work. So would need to reverse both EOS utility and the camera and hope they left all functions in there. Loooooooong shot

Figured it was a long shot only thought of the idea when I came across this thread at dpreview

I'd say the only reasonable way is to code this from scratch. You can have custom PTP handlers via USB, but you need to write both the remote control application and a ML module that interfaces with it, sends the LiveView image, overlays, exposes the settings and so on.

So if anybody has EOS M, sharp coding skills, motivation and lots of free time, it can be a nice project. See also www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=9570 .

Wouldn't that work for all cameras though since it would be independent of canon? Not sure how much PTP is supported either beyond file transfer, it would have to be tricked into connecting while not changing to mass storage. Only thing it lets you do is add picture styles and download the pics.

Of course, but since on all other cameras you have EOS utility and all sorts of remote controllers, there's little incentive to reinvent the wheel.

From the dpreview link, it looks like Chainfire played with it and got some sort of communication with the camera, I guess via PTP.

Also doesn't help that this camera will probably EOL and be replaced by something else. 650D is gone already from canon US.
