The Avid DNxHD Free version that you are using only produces a 1920x1080 footage. So even if you render a project that is 1920x818 it will still come out as 1920x1080 (stretched)

A head on solution would be to do your project in 1920x1080 so you have the 2.35:1 black border.
once you go raw you never go back
