600D: to be pink or not to be pink, that´s the question...
« on: October 13, 2013, 05:49:18 PM »
There is one thing, I don´t understand:

Recording a raw-video with high resolution (1728 x 1152) in no-crop mode is fine. No problems. Many frames are skipped, but that was expected
Recording a raw-video with the same resolution in crop-mode results in pink frames. Only the first frame is ok, the rest is corrupted. In crop mode, I have to set fps or/and resolution to continous recording for not getting corrupted frames.

Tested with latest sources from TL2.0 and from MLV, global draw was set to off in raw_rec-module.

Why this difference? Has the cpu so much more to do in crop mode?

Well the YUV size is larger... what if you kill the LV still get pink frames?

I see.

Killing LV makes no changes. All frames are corrupted. Seems to be to much work for my little 600D   :'(

So they're pink a little where you fix WB or they are pink with lines and garbage on them?

Heh, using build from sept 22nd, I get no pink frames in crop mode. 960x544 Its also fun to disable the 3x limit and shrink the YUV all the way, that seems to help speeds as now its smaller than the LV YUV buffer.

ThankYou1%.

I did some more crop-tests, using latest TL2.0-sources.:

fps-override on, 24 fps: I can record 1728 x 992 without pink frames, that´s fine. On higher resolutions, first pink frames, as higher as more.
fps-override off: first pink frames at 1024 x 576. At 1088 x 640 many pink frames and a cameracrash:

Code: [Select]

I've had that crash before when MZ was enabled.

Magic zoom.

No FPS, 1088 x 640 292 frames no pinkies. Crop mode zoomed all the way in.
Same rez, not zoomed 290 frames no pink.

1088 x 640 in 720P60 override to 23.976, 300 frames, no pink.

Finally got ruined frame FPS override + 23.976 native FPS. Also freeze if you MZ while recording.
I am shooting in sraw with the extra memory tho.

Also the pink could be blacklevel wrong setting.  I recently got some raw footage from 5D3 with green overcast.
Fixed it using exiftool.
I tested setting blacklevel to 1000 and all of green cast changed to pink cast.

@ RenatoPhoto: The pink frames are ruined frames. They look like these: http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=8452.msg79882#msg79882 . So it´s no WB or black-level-issue.

@ 1%: Magiczoom was disabled. And I´m using Raw.  I will do some more tests the day after tomorrow.

At the moment I´m happy with fps override on and 1728 x 992 dots.

ThankYou for helping

How does one go about disabling the 3x limit?

OP are you in 1080p or 640 video mode?
