Set focus to infinity / other predefined point

Hello all,

for aerial photography (nearest object at approx. 500m), it would be interesting not to rely on the autofocus with it's uncertainty but use a fixed focus. But setting to manual focus has risk of accidentally making a wrong adjustment. Well, one might get the idea, to fix the focus ring with tape...

Can I use ML to set the focus to a predefined position, i.e. infinity, before a picture is taken?

I do not know whether the hardware is capable of doing what I consider, e.g. can a lens be set to a precise focus by commands at all?

I'm currently using a Canon EOS 60D and/or 550D with 24-70 and 70-200 Tamron SP lenses.
