Has anybody DIY'd a wireless flash
« on: October 09, 2013, 06:38:01 AM »
Has anybody attempted their hand at creating some sort of wireless flash synchronization?
Something similar to a transmitter unit that attaches to the camera, with receiver units on each flash.
(Just old manual flashes, not new canon ones).

There are triggers on ebay.
No real need to DIY anything.

Yongnuo RF-603, $30 off ebay.

They work as remote shutters too  ;)

The Yongnuo YN-622C will do wireless TTL for $80 or so.  Haven't tried these myself yet.

I have six Yongnuo RF-603 (4 for Canon, 2 for Nikon, these are working with Pentax too). Works great, cheap, easy to use.
I worked with some RF-622 for Nikon but never tried the Canon version.
I've also built some DIY radio remote controller for Nikon flash (the protocol is more or less reverse-engineered), but hard to find a fast radio transmitter (without a long delay) so finally got the radio chip out from the RF-622s and use that.
EOS 7D Mark II, EOS 7D, EOS 5, EOS 100 + lenses (10mm to 300mm), 600EX, 550EX, YN600EX x 3
