ML 2.3 on t2i 1.09 - Arrow Key Shortcuts

When I press the arrow keys, the box in the center of the screen moves around, I do not get shortcut access. I read through the manual section on arrow keys but I don't see any reference to the arrows moving the onscreen box.

How do I get the arrow keys to access shortcuts?

Ok. On the T2i/550D pushing the AV button brings up the arrow shortcut menus. After figuring this out I went back and searched the manual and there it is, right near the beginning.

"To enable the shortcut menu, press the following key:

550D: the Av button (optional: cover the LCD sensor);"

Don't know how I missed this, somehow it just didn't compute the first time I read it.
