Almost 100% Noise Free HDR using Dual Iso
« on: August 12, 2013, 01:10:11 PM »
Thought id give Dual Iso HDR a shot.

Super quick test so i know for sure more detail can be pulled and more noise can be cleaned up.

Setup:
ML Auto Bracket - 9 Shots (did this to cover everything just incase)
1ev
Dual Iso
HDR Efex Pro 2 - Balanced
Photoshop CC - Camera Raw Filter to bring down the greens, ad slight sharpen,
100% No noise reduction at all,

Originals are at bottom of image :) Crap shot and comp but wanted to test before producing finals.

I use to find that clouds and shadows areas produced alot of noise... now with dual iso that is almost 100% gone!!
(Image is slightly blurry as i shot at 2.8, sorry about that)

EDIT by SDX: Come on guys, 900px width rule!

How to use this function? I have the Canon 6D. I downloaded the latest version of the firmware build. Found a download module features DUAL ISO / But I do not understand how it works. In the photo just strip. What am I doing wrong?

After you got that stripped file, you drag and drop it on cr2hdr.exe program, and it will create a dng file. This is what you're looking for.

What he said, if you are on mac download that app, if on windows download the files, you will have 3 files, place the cr2's files INSIDE the same folder as CR2HDR and drag the image onto cr2hdr.exe.

On mac just drag the image onto the app or folder containing dual iso images.

For realistic HDR i use actionscripts from www.guygowan.com you can do HDR with a single shot! so you have no ghosting and you can shoot people! and you won't even know photoshop is used...
without losing detail in the shadows and in the highlights...
and in sunny conditions in the snow!

se the results...

No problem, if there is alot of shadow, meter on the shadow, if alot of highlight meter on the highlights, when i did this shot i metered on the shadow when looking at now and knowing more about DI i should of metered on the highlights.
