Example....

Connecting a USB cardreader or other storage device to your camera USB port and use that as the storage when taking pictures.

This has been done, with a Rasp Pi and a SSD, total setup is very high priced... may as well spend the same amoint of money of fast CF cards. Also the setup is very messy, wires everywhere, external powerpacks etc

USB2 = 480MBit/s = theoretical ~60MByte/s, practical significant lower.
good maybe for the older SD-Card-Bodies - for CF-Card-users no advantage..
