Request: Shutter half press to Lock AF and Exposure?

At the moment you need a separate button to lock exposure, then it disappears in a few seconds.

Can you set whatever button that focusses also locks exposure? A bit difficult as only want to do that in one shot shutter and not af servo mode.

ANyway, some food for thought.

PS if it is possible note some cameras have a separate button to start/lock autofocus that button should lock exposure too.

To be clear, you want the exposure to remain locked for a longer time period?

Because the default functionality, is focus and exposure lock on shutter half press.

ah I see. I have found that the 5DMkIII defaults that way (AF + AE lock on shutter half press), but not my 600D (AF lock NO AE lock on shutter half press)! weird!

it's ok I shoot mainly with the 5DMkIII and the 600D for my 5 year old, macro, telephoto 2nd camera. but I am pretty sure the 600D does not AE lock with shutter half press ... (I could be wrong though, but if I were wrong I wouldn't be requesting this ;p)
