After reading the EOSHD post, http://www.eoshd.com/content/10507/it-lives-5-year-old-350-canon-50d-becomes-raw-cinema-monster, I bought a 50D to add to my mkIII and mkII cameras. I love the 5Ds, but sometimes I need a natively longer DOF to work with.

I only see two movie resolution sizes in the ML menu in the stable 2.3 firmware; 1920x1080 @ 30fps and 640x480. EOSHD refers to an assortment of movie sizes/resolutions in their testing, shot at 24fps. For the moment, I would like to record 1080p at 24fps (1/50). Perhaps, only digging around for a couple hours, I have missed something.

I will assume that if I want to record raw, a lesser resolution may be necessary but I can't find a way to do so.

I'm also interested in how to record video with the 50D at 24 fps, could it be done using FPS override, or would that make difficult to sincronize the audio later?

update- I found this on another topic:

"Anyway, Timer A 686 / Timer B 1751 is one choice for obtaining 23.976 fps."

Thanks

Native video in the ML menu isn't working so great with settings changes right now.  All the dev is focused on RAW video.  I posted a set of directions in another post that details how to get 1920x1080 @ 24fps

That post assumes you already have everything from that forum topic installed.  So go to page one and read up, then read that post.

Hope this helps
