nanomad is it possible to make available the quick autofocus mode in video like canon 7d?
photo mode has it but if switched to video recording that function is lost and it´s useful.

does anyone know if it's possible to down grade mt 650d firmware from 1.0.4 back to 1.0.1 once i've already upgraded. ML won't work with the new firmware . Thanx in advance for your advice

I can't say for sure, but it seems like something you could do, if you could find a 1.0.1 .fir file (not on Canon's website) I went looking for one today, but couldn't find one.

I believe there was a .fir somewhere for 1.0.1. Check back a few pages.

Also to Nano: I saw a1ex's post on variable buffering. Will this also work with the 650d to help aid recording resolution limits?

Yeah. You can do clean 720p at 24 fps. For now up to 4 gigs because the module needs a better policy on file change. I meant to post it yesterday but totally forgot

I tried to FPS override to 24 exact frames on 22nd Satriani build and it crashed giving me those logs

Optimize for low light. Exact FPS needs more tweaking on my side

SILENT PICTURES. does it suppose to work in the alfa? it takes picture but when using YUV422 Convertor i get an error saying "unknown image size". what are you guys using to convert the .422 files to .jpg?

also since i would like to use that feature for shooting timelapse has anyone got good experience with it? is the image quality sufficient? ML manual says that the "image resolution is usually around 1 or 2 MPix". is that valid for 650D too?

and last thing. ML manual doesn't say what the Burst and Continuous options are for. could anyone please explain it?

thanks a lot.
(it would be great if the forum search could be narrowed to only one topic)

I haven't been able to find the downgrade in this string. Does anyone else know where it might be ?

ok, thanks nanomad

Disabled FPS overcranking, now optimize for exact FPS should be working again :)

Thats some good news!

midnite

here some footage from my 650d.

the interesting thing is; i can see pink dots on my original copy (they are too small but still visible), but it seems they are gone on youtube. can any of you see pink dots? its youtube's crappy comppresing thing i guess.

edit: the only thing i edit the luminance and color settings to 100 in ACR (adobe camera raw plugin on photoshop cs5)

spider

Normally you can see them in Youtube too.

midnite

i edited luminance and color setting to the value of "100" maybe thats why they're gone. but like i said; i can still see them on my original copy. they are not noticable unless you look really careful though

Quick question is there any settings for taking photos at night with out tripod and long exposure times... is there a way of shooting pictures/ videos at 4K on the 650d?

thanks jamie.

first question yes there but you could also do that in the stock cannon firmware as well, but I hope you have rock steady hands or you will pick up the shakes...

second question, no the 650d does not have strong enough hardware to process a full 4k video, we cant even do full 2k, at least currently  and from what I have seen so far.

Now that the RAW feature is capable of some short clip under lower res for me and i was wondering if i want to shoot a short film (no client, just for myself) what should i choose to use, the RAW or original 1080p mov? and what is the practical use of RAW? does the 14bit deserve the compensation for the lower res?
650D 18-135mm kit, 50-1.8 lens
hoping it can do faster than 45MB/s on RAW video mode......

nanomad

It all depends if you are willing to handle the increased complexity of the raw workflow. As a suggestion shoot a 720p raw, upres it to 1080p and see how that compares to native H264 1080p. I suspect the quality will be the same if not better. The color latitude is definitely bigger. And you get no moire if you shoot in 5x zoom mode jut like the good old 600D

on ML 16.05 MagicZoom working fine, but in the next versions MagicZoom twitching. If i move the window MagicZoom down-left, down-right, then fine, but if I turned on the record again begins to twitch.
And also, if I select a Picture Style "Film PictureStyle", it will not be displayed Zebra. On the other styles that are tried, zebra displayed. Can I fix it somehow, not ispodbzuya separate styles for recording and Standby?
