Does the Canon NR setting on 5d3, have any effect on Raw video?

bronson

NR settings only affect JPG file.
Raw format, capture all raw informations from sensor.
So you could apply NR values in post with adobe camera raw.

Increase your ISO, Shutter, or f-stop lightly and bring it down in post.  More information is stored in the highlights (ETTR), and this will greatly improve your signal to noise ratio.

Look up ETTR for more information.

thanks guys.  I have been getting better results when exposing to the right, much cleaner shadows. The NR in Lightroom 5 has been doing a good job cleaning up the image.

Another tip: set digital ISO to -1EV in image finetuning. You'll be a little more tempted to expose to the right.

You think -1EV?  I was doing -.6EV.  Didn't want to accidentally blow out the highlights.
