I'm not sure what factors determine what resolutions are available for RAW video, but can I request that if possible, they become mod 16 resolutions.

Internal constraints: mod 8 horizontally and mod 2 vertically. Any combination possible.

FYI: 1920x1080 is not mod 16.

Indeed.  And Canon's h.264 is 1088 high with 8 lines cropped on playback.  Blu-ray also.

I've had a look at raw_rec.c. but I'm no where near being able to implement something like this myself yet.

Noticed that frame sizes multiple of 512 are a little faster to write (credits: CHDK and confirmed with my benchmark; also DMA block size is 512, so it makes sense). So, I've rounded things to 64x32 or 128x16, to make sure frame size is multiple of 512.

And indeed, according to my benchmark, 1920x1088 is a little faster to save than 1920x1080.

Now it's your job to calm down the guys who will flood the forum asking where did 1920x1080 disappear ;)

So... What will be the best theoretical resolution for the 5D Mark II? :)

All of them are "best" regarding write speed (you can no longer choose "bad" ones from menu).

Any chance we could get another crop size (or 2) put to the list - something starting with or above 1024 (which i believe is the next step up from 960).
On my 60D, I'm getting minutes of (sometimes continuous) recording at the 960x..., but as soon as i jump up to 1280x... i slump straight back down to a few hundred frames.

Thanks & great work!
