so my plain boring 24-105 becomes 315mm telephoto??
and I can just carry 35/1.4 and get 105/1.4 image out of it as well?
this is just too much Magic Lantern!!

(I hope this can be used in still mode as well)

Nope.  Just in Video Mode.  For still you can crop the photo yourself in Photoshop.  Been asked many times, but in raw photo you have the whole raw sensor on the image so you crop it yourself

Thanks for the video, the visuals really helps explain what it really means to be able to use 3x crop mode on a full frame camera.

thanks it helped a lot!

I just need to find a way to convert this 4gb file; so far I never succeed to do that for some strange reason! Any tips?

I'm windows 7, running the latest raw2dng with the last RAW build for 5d.

Virindi

There's another version of raw2dng for files larger than 4Gb I think somewhere.. can't link it to you I don't use it.

So zoom x5 is actually zoom x3? :o
I'll have to do the calculations on my videos then. I assumed my 500mm in x5 zoom would be equivalent for 2500mm.

a1ex

Zoom is horizontal resolution from a CR2 / horizontal resolution of the video. Do the math.

The perfect tool for wildlife filming! Filmed a short sequence of young owls in their nest. My 500mm becomes a 1500mm lens! Good demo of adobes warp stabilizer as well.
