After watching the Canon 1DC youtube movie in which photographers used the 4K video mode and in post extracted stills from it, I'm eager to use it for my portrait photography sessions. I understand that 4K stills are not RAW files and that Magic Lantern provides RAW video for the MKIII. I am a bit confused though whether ML will fulfill my needs. I searched the forum but could not find an exact answer.
I want to record short bursts of videos during a portrait session in a maximum quality, 10 fps should be enough and the shutter speed should be fast enough to freeze motion. Actually, what I want is a continuous burst mode with a mirror lock up to say 30-60 seconds in full RAW.
Is this possible ?

The short answer is yes, but with caveats.

If you wish to shoot something at least close to 4k at 10fps you'll need a very fast memory card (600x at least) for just a few seconds of reliable and consistent recording, you'll need to shoot using "cropped raw recording", and depending on what magic lantern overlay tools you need functioning at the time, you may not see the full field of view in live-view that the camera actually records, therefore composing your shot becomes an issue.

Since the RAW recording breakthrough, searching for answers here is now like finding a needle in a haystack, but it's worth trying to read as much as you can through the raw related threads. They are slowly getting more organized.

I'm sure others will be able to suggest things too :)

At 3584x1312 (maximum resolution in crop mode), for 10fps you need only 78.4 MB/s for continuous recording. That's less than 1920x1080 at 24fps (83.6).

Preview will be grayscale.

Thanks for the quick replies, much appreciated !
So  3548x1312 is the maximum resolution in crop mode and full frame mode shooting is not possible or still possible in a lower frame rate ?
Do I get sRAW files or full RAWs like shooting single frames ? I'd like to print the files on A2 paper.
Very very excited about this breakthrough.

Now do your homework, read the forum rules and sticky topics and try it ;)

Here is some detailed information about cropped mode:

I really like the cropped mode, the results are stunning.  I extracted stills better that with the original .CR2 file because I could only take 6 fps with cr2 while I was recording video at 24 fps in cropped mode.

Of course in crop mode there is much less usable area see some of the frame crops here:
