If you use the 650D define, do you get the exact FPS values I've quoted above? If so, just use the define from 650D. If not, I need to do the math.

Also check movie shutter speeds in both PAL and NTSC, and in all video modes / zoom / crop / whatever you have there.

Yes, those were the reading I got before adding the Define for 700D copying from 650D in fps_engio
After adding define I was getting the correct values much closer to normal
30p = 29.973
24p = 23.973
60p = 59.946

If I set cam to PAL
50p = 50.000
24p = 23.973
25p = 25.000

500D/T1i  550D/T2i  600D/T3i  700D/T5i

mk11174

As for shutter in PAL
25P
1/50 canon = 1/50, 180degree ml

24p
1/47 Canon = 1/47, 184degree ml

50p
1/100 Canon = 1/100, 180 degree ml

NTSC
30p
1/30 Canon = 1/30, 360 degree ml

24p
1/50 Canon = 1/47, 184 degree ml

60p
1/60 Canon = 1/60, 360 degree ml

500D/T1i  550D/T2i  600D/T3i  700D/T5i

The primary feature I need is the audio meters. Should I use this version mk11174 linked above, or are audio meters available yet on the general nightly build here: http://builds.magiclantern.fm/#/
If you would like an up to date build with audio meters I updated my version so it is up to date as of today Feb 26 2014. Also includes the fps/shutter value fix.

Great news ! you sir, are my hero for the day ! :)
Thanks a lot for this. as you might saw in my previous post I was kind of desperate!

Thank you a1ex, thank you mk11174

EDIT : after copying the new 650 meters version on my camera, it wont turn on anymore... the red light is blinking the whole time and nothing else happens.

I am using this one : ML_650D_Meters_Feb_26_2014.zip

other cards without magic lantern work.

Didnt you say you had a 700D, or do you have both and maybe you are saying the 650d camera is not working with the version you downloaded??

If you only have a 700D, t5i then you should be using the 700D version not the 650d, the 650d is for the t4i.

Let me know how it goes.

Thats why i downloaded the 650 one for my 700D.
I thought the whole download folder is for 700D (the folders name is t5i) and as you said you adopted something from the 650D version to make it work i thought this would be the latest ML Version for 700D.

I hope you know what I mean  :D

Using ML_700D_Meters_Feb_26_2014.zip everything works fine on my 700D

Again, great job !

Ah, yes, I can see how that would mess someone up, its ok, I am just helping the 650d users out that want meters and this is the easiest place for me to share them, glad it is working now though.

its working great. tried everything so far and everything works great. the only thing is, that I can not find a way to disable the on screen audio meters.
Also I am wondering why the info at the buttom of the screen in Livemode (shutter, iso etc.) are not in colour anymore. It was usefull for beginner. (green,good/red,bad)

Awesome, thanks!

Also, I figure I should let you guys know: When I was installing ML on my T5i, I went through the same procedure as when I installed on my T3i, but with the T5i I never reached the green text screen. For a few moments after loading the firmware, there were some scattered blocks of black/white static pixels on the lcd, starting with the upper left corner, and then there was a long horizontal block of static pixels near the center of the screen. It was quite worrisome at first, especially because I never saw the green text screen, but after turning the camera off and reloading the card, ML works fine. Except, when I've tried to reformat the card with ML on it, the camera fails. It gets to "rewriting bootflags" and just completely freezes, not even the off switch works, the only way to shut it off is by pulling the battery. I've tried reformatting with keeping and deleting ML, and both times freeze the camera when it gets to rewriting bootflags.

I expect these kinds of glitches because it's a work in progress, I just wanted to make sure you guys knew about this stuff. Otherwise, it all works great!

Yeah, I don't know anything about the firmware file, I did not create it for the 700d, I starting working on this port later on and just helped a bit, but yeah, not sure what the deal was with the loading process of the bootflag, but it installed and works, so I am happy about that!  :)

Sorry guys, I think the DEVS are trying to prep ML for multiple FW versions for cameras before they do they next step with this port. So it could be awhile, if I was 100% sure the stubs were good to go and knew how to make the bootflag FIR file for you, I would compile a temp version for you guys to test while you were waiting, but I trust the Devs have reasons for being patient, they don't want to see any bricked cameras if they don have too.

Hey, I've just noticed something weird, I'm not sure what this means (or if it has anything to do with the shutter angle discussion above).

I have ML installed on two different cards. The shutter speed options are different, even though they have identical copies of mk11174's most recent build with audio meters.

On the 1st card (used to install ML on the camera), the shutter options are:
1/27
1/34
1/41
1/52
1/68
1/82
1/100
1/140
1/160
1/210
1/270
1/320
1/420
1/540
1/650
1/840
1/1100
1/1300
1/1700
1/2200
1/2600
1/3500

On the 2nd card, the options are:
1/31
1/39
1/42
1/47
1/60
1/78
1/85
1/94
1/120
1/160
1/170
1/190
1/240
1/310
1/340
1/370
1/480
1/620
1/680
1/750
1/960
1/1300
1/1400
1/1500
1/2000
1/2600
1/2800
1/3000
1/4100

While the Canon menu settings are set to 24p, Card 2 lists the fps @ 23.973, however card 1 lists the shutter speed at 21.576. I'm trying to keep as close to 1/48 for standard shooting (so I guess 1/52 on card 1 and 1/47 on card 2).

EDIT: I just realized, I should probably mention (and might have to do with the fps variation) that they are different brand cards, where card 1 has a speed of 24mb/s, and card 2 is 30mb/s. I guess I'm wondering, is this a glitch in ML, or is it actually shooting at a different framerate than what the canon menu is set as because the card isn't fast enough?

Looking at the card1 shutter speeds, it looks like you are using the build right before my last one which does not have the fps/shutter fix because those are the exact speeds I was getting before the fps/shutter fix.

Maybe start over, delete the autoexec.bin and the ML folder on card1 and re-download https://bitbucket.org/mk11174/t5i/downloads/ML_700D_Meters_Feb_26_2014.zip and see what happens.

Card2 is the way you want it to be, that sounds like it is using the shutter fix.

The card type should not be changing any of these things.

Sometimes if you do a copy over of the autoexec.bin file and ML folder, something may not overwrite and you will be using the older versions, thats why its best to start fresh and delete them first and unzip the new ones to card to be 100% sure.

Ok, all set. I was pretty sure that I copied the same file and folder onto both cards, but evidently something got messed up.

So the only other thing at this point, is the problem that if I try to reformat a card with ML in camera, it freezes the camera and fails to completely reformat. I can always just wipe the card on my laptop, but it kind of worries me that the camera has lost the ability to reformat cards with ML running on them.

Yeah, no big deal, with as many times as I copied over when debugging I myself have made same mistake many times.

As for format, I would not format with ML in camera myself, that is one thing I never bothered with with the 700D, maybe because how the bootflag was set up on this camera, I don't know if that has anything to do with it, I just dont want to attempt to play with that part of the code because I am scared it will brick the camera, I will just leave that to the pros. I am very pleased with how it runs on the 700D so I figure best to leave well enough alone as far as the format option.

Actually I have not formatted my card since I got my 700D and installed ML, lol, its been awhile too and have no issues at all, I just delete the files not needed.

I'll try to fix it on 5D3; if it works, I'll explain exactly what I did.

Meanwhile, I recommend disabling it from internals.h. I prefer things that are known not to work to be disabled from features.h/internals.h (so these files can actually serve as a todo list for the port maintainers).

I did the same with 5D3 123 (disabled things that don't work yet, such as fast zebras, explained why, so anyone reading the source code will know what is not working yet and may want to try to fix it).

Sounds good to me, disabling seems best for sure, just never even used format so did not even know if it worked, I was to scared it would mess things up, but yes, now that there is a known issue, will disable for sure. Thanks for the recommend.

Hey guys, got my hands on a borrowed 700D to test before I buy.

I think I discovered a bug (was using MK11174's Feb26 build with the meters) and was trying to format the card leaving ML on. At the end of the process as it was 'writing bootflags' it hung and had to do a battery reset.

Another little quirk was the Magic Zoom - when I accidentally set the position to the ever-jumpy focus point, it went nuts and eventually froze.
Just thought I'd mention - otherwise it is a pretty good build, really getting there - thanks!

EDIT: I just saw you guys recently discussed the formatting issue already - sorry for not checking.
