newbie question re ml operation

Hi, have tried to find answer to this but couldn't hence this post. Trying to think ahead to how ml may affect what I do (event filming on mk3)  and was wondering what happens when, after installation, you switch to another card which hasn't got ml on it. Will the camera switch on as normal - from what i read there may be a 2 second delay - but will it operate how it did prior to ml? Or does the installation card need to be in the camera, to operate, until you uninstall (via a in camera format?)
