1.40 crashes for me when I press convert...I'm on windows 7 x64.

Also - where are we in the progress of getting Premiere to natively see cDNG without the magenta/pink hue?

chmee

important informations for a reasonably answer:

(*) the metadata are read accurate? are resolution, frames, framerate, body accurate?
(*) maybe it's an wrong converted mlv?
(*) firmware/ml-version from when?
(*) stripped or not?

(todo for me: clickable debug-output for crash-situations)

magenta/pink cast are showing, when the whitebalance is set wrong, but not on the line of warm/cold whites, but in right angle to it (looking on a colorgraph). Thats why there are two sliders for adjusting wb.

(*) did you tested the cr2-wb-embedder?
(*) are these problems as well with ACR/Speedgrade/Resolve?

(!) havin' a lot of work - tomorrow in the german tv is the bambi. means, after that i hope i can return to patch and update to a better/usable version. btw i test and code this tool under win7/x64/c#2010 - but this time i wrote a readme because it was fast coding without heavy testing.

Hi Chmee

Here's some of my debugging info if it's useful:

* Metadata for White Level (16383) I think is wrongly reported. Should be 15000 (?) All other is correct (frame rate, body etc.)
* I use ML build from 10.9.2013
* Not using mlv.
* I don't know what 'stripped' means!  :-[

Screen grab of my Win 7 (It's running on Virtual Box on Mac OSX 10.7.5. All previous versions of your app have worked perfectly on this same setup!)

Thanks again for your help.

Compare raw2cdng v.1.3.0 and raw2dng with 7D footage. Here is a result: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B2NWwDUimG9cbS1mWFRtaXgzSFU&usp=sharing
Left part is a raw2dng, right is a raw2Cdng. Import to Photoshop via ACR as is - nothing was changed. On a raw2cdng dng file clearly one can see color moire on a roofs (blue + yellow). What am I doing wrong?

chmee

http://www.phreekz.de/wordpress/2013/06/magiclantern-raw2cdng-cinema-dng/

raw2cdng v1.4.5 is online
* fixed modeltag (should work now with acr-profiles)
* multithreading seems workable with stripped files
* whitelevel back to 15.000
* mlv-workaround (read in blog-description)

@mityazabuben
maybe because of profiles. in the raw2dng-picture you can see the yellow/blue artifacts as well, but less harsh

Thanks chmee!

Unfortunately, v1.4.5 is still not processing any file and/or crashing for me :( Both on Win 7 and XP. If I try running as 'Admin' on Win7, the drag and drop does not work!

I'm running on Virtual Box on Mac OSX10.7.5 – but as I mentioned before all previous/early versions of your app have worked perfectly on it!

Any ideas please chmee / anyone?

Many thanks

chmee

is it showing any crash-error? with 1.4.0 multithreading came into source, i suppose, there's the problem.

drag&drop-problem is known - search for that.

Thanks for the reply! :)

Win XP is showing the 'Windows has encountered a problem and has to close' box

Win7 just fails to process the files (an empty folder is created, but no green progress bars) when I press the 'convert' button

@chmee Thanks for the link. The drag and drop fix mentioned there didn't work for me.

This time I ran the app I got a crash report. Does it say anything to you?

Good footage doesn't make a story any better.

chmee

so thanks to timbytheriver we found a bug.

Dont switch the ModelID-Field on, if there's nothing in it.

if you switch on, fill in something.
OR
let it switched off, if you dont need it.

maybe you have to restart the application. patch on the way.

I don't know , i will try right now

Edit: Yes, 1.3.0 has the same issue.
But has no problem converting 42GB 2k frame size to cdng  :)

@chmee
Love the Lut you made to help combat the problem (Seen on page 13). I think it would be really helpful to put that on the First post  for people looking.

chmee

@reddeercity You're using the 1.4.6 with debug-output. please copy/paste the debug-log into a pastebin.

hint: place a try-catch block around every thread function and event handlers.
and open a messagebox there displaying the stack trace.
thats the most simple and effective method i usually chose.

actually, much simpler is to add a handler for AppDomain.CurrentDomain.UnhandledException during initialization and log the error from there.

chmee

did you looked into the debug-output? to catch only exception is one thing - to see via outputlogs, what variables has been set and where it stops was my concern. i can read that.
