650D Raw_Rec port?
« on: May 19, 2013, 08:56:57 PM »
Supposedly 650D has UHS-I card support so it may be a good target for high speed recording?

It's now like 650D vs 50D for the basic RAW HD video DSLR camera - faster CF (133Mb/s) and larger buffer size may outweigh the CPU difference, also I've read somewhere here that 650D controller tops near the 40Mb\s - that will limit maxres under 720p.

5D mark II will hopefully settle at stable 24/1080p so we could conclude that DIGIC 4 is enough for RAW HD video = good news for 50D.))

Already working :D
1280x560 is what you can shoot at 24p
EOS 1100D | EOS 650 (No, I didn't forget the D) | Ye Olde Canon EF Lenses ('87): 50 f/1.8 - 28 f/2.8 - 70-210 f/4 | EF-S 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 | Metz 36 AF-5

On 650D? Nice!

Edit: 1280 X 560 at 24 fps is only 30 Megabyte/s. 1280 X 720 is 39 ... But it doesn't work?
What's the max write speed of the 650D (Benchmark)? I'm just curious.

According to A1ex the CPU doesn't matter. He said that the "secret ingredient" for RAW video is zero CPU usage ;)
It's all about write speed. And I think the 50D will win this contest.

That is good to hear, then lets wait for the 50D update, as it might become a great entry level APS-C RAW HD video alternative to 5D mkII

High CPU usage can lower throughput of memcpy and all that stuff.. cpu speed doesn't really matter.

The write speed is around 41MB/s outside LV and around 30 in Live View.
