Reporting commit f6317d61  of today.  5D3 with lexar 1000x

Tested for bad frames at 5X, fps 29.97 with fps override.

Noticed that with Global Draw ON CPU at 100% most of the time.

Bad frames at 1920x1080, 1856x1044, 1728x972

Good frames at 1600x900

Sometimes good frames at 1728x972 with Global Draw OFF

Global draw is vague, there are a ton of overlays under it...

I can no longer reproduce the issue, all these resolutions are clean for me.

I tested a few options of turning On and Off but could not get any improvement until I tested 1728x  The I recorded without bad frames with histogram off.

More test on the same issue...

Force Left definitely helps clear up bad frames, but get some problems still at 1920x1080
Force Left plus Hacked solves the problem of bad frames, tested at 1920x, 1854x, 1728x
Force Left plus Hacked plus Memory Hack allows for almost continuous recording at 1920x1080 29.97 fps at 5X without bad frames.

I'm sure this has been answered somewhere before but I couldn't find it.  Is there a 10x recording mode enabled?  If not, will it be enabled or should I assume we will only have 5x?  Is 5x 1:1 pixels or is 10x?

I've been shooting with June 15th build on the 5dIII and then output from 5x and 10x are identical.  I'm getting perfect unlimited recording at 1920 x 1080 on a KomputerBay 64gb.

LOL the speed of development is so fast it's hard to follow...

Hi TheJturner

From what I understand, the developers have tapped into an existing stream of video that occurs when the x5 or x10 mode is selected, and it uses roughly the 1920 x 1080 centre-ish most pixels of the 5760 x 3840 pixel sensor, and is therefore a 1:1 pixel map.

This 1:1 pixel view gives a final image zoom effect that it approximately x3 larger than the full sensor "5760 x 3840" pixels scaled down to 1920 x 1080.

The x5 and x10 modes then magnify this 1:1 pixel stream (no increase in quality or detail)

Therefore, you wouldn't benefit in quality from what you are asking for and you can achieve the same result by simply scaling it up in post.

When you use the x5 or x10 mode, the camera is still only recording the 1:1 (x3 scale) pixels even though you see it as x5 or x10 on the LCD. (the B&W view in x5 mode may be x3 now, I've not checked as I don't use it to record)

You could set it to lower in override fps but I don,t think it can be faster. Maybe in 1280x50/60fps modes?

When i set 720/50 and record in crop mode he automatically sets fps override to 30, even if it was on 50 before. No matter what resolution... So FPS in crop mode seems to be max 30.

With the latest build I Don't have "framing options" anymore ,only Dolly mode On or Off.
is that right ?
sorry for any inconvenience.

Framing modes was removed in 22nd or 24th Build as far as I'm aware.
Don't worry, things will come and go as it gets tweaked often, you'll get use too it  ;)

I have not been able to locate a thread dealing with the in-camera dolly/slide aspect of cropped video. Anyone know of a thread or a video related to this?
Daybreak broke me loose and brought me back...

Hello, I'm getting a black bar on the right when I do 3x. It's not there the first few frames then it pops up. I followed all of the settings from the video, 24P 1080 build from couple days ago 5d3 with a Kombuterbay 1000x 64.

Also does 3x the only zoom factor that works? I thought it would go in 2 levels. When I push the zoom button again it goes in on the screen but same mag factor on record.

Move the joystick to the left. Probably about 7 or so steps. I'm not sure WHY it happens, but move your recording area over, fixes it.

I'm having the same black bar problem mentioned above with Lourenco's 16th July build (quite large, about 15% of the right side). It has happened in many of the cropped videos that I've recorded but not in every of them, some are clear and have the full 1920x1080 image. I don't remember moving the AF box around nor I change any settings during the recording. In the global draw preview it displayed correctly. Also I think I played at least one of the affected videos on camera and it covered the full screen. Could it be a raw2dng bug?

I'd be happy to upload reference frames and provide any info to help to solve the issue. As a side note I had "Small hacks" ON during the recording.

On what cameras is this feature working? i guess 5DM3, 5DM3 and 50D, but what about 60D or TX? Thanks!

Hey there, I'm sure this has been asked and answered somewhere. Is it possible to shoot 50 fps in crop mode? When I set fps override to 50 it gets set as 30.8

This is an amazing addition to Magic Lantern. Absolutely brilliant work!  :)

But one small question; i don't understand why the 3x magnification can't be used in photo mode as well as movie mode?

You can store the whole image so you can crop it later on. However, it would be useful if you want to take still images very fast or don't want to store the unnecessary part of the image for memory card reasons. The zoom function is really usefull in video mode, where you can't store the whole image.

Not sure if this is just still a bug with the 5D 3 raw builds (nothing comes up when i search)... but 5X goes all wonky on me in LV but DOES record... 10X displays fine but records at 5X and not 10X. And if i try to cycle through WHILE recording, it crashes. Using ML to disable 5X also has no effect, not sure if related to this. Searching 5x on forums gives me no results at all.

So to repeat: im able to record 5X cropped with LV being all screwy... but 10x records as 5x but displays fine (as 10).

RenatoPhoto

There is not recording at 10X, although it could be useful if the devs found a way to do it.
Cannot cycle while recording, this is not possible, it does not work.  Hopefully devs will disable this so that the camera does not crash.
