There is a usb over ad hoc WLAN adapter for DSLRs that works with iOS http://www.camranger.com/

Does anyone have some experience with this device?

Hello,
I have a similare experience except I use a Raspberry Pi as Camranger. I'm able to fully control a 5D Mark III connected with usb to a Raspberry and use Eos Utility on a remote windows device through an wireless connection whit router( but I think is possible also with adhoc connection). Basically it is only to share usb over ip (wired or wireless)

Hi Odlan,

what firmware, configuration do you use on Raspberry PI?

Thanks,

Hi,
I am really interested in this item/topic. I have seen two similar products. Camranger which is talked about here and IUSBPort Camera. A product by Sanho corp/hypershop. Both of these products are $300 us. I am thinking about getting one of these. Also I am interested in hearing how you got set up and are using the Raspberry Pi to perform similar functionality.
Regarding the Camranger and iUSBPort Camera can either of these products control my Canon 60D through the ML firmware?
I have an iPad3. Any and all thoughts are welcome.

Thanks,
John Gerard

Sorry for delay, but I haven' t recived any notification of replay...

I' m using this http://store.raspberrypi.com/projects/virtualhere (I think it is based on usbip) or if you want you can try to compile yourself
follow this http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=121691 (not the same of virtualhere but pretty similar).
I'm running standard configuration on a fresh install of 2013-02-09-wheezy-raspbian.img

I think Camranger use this kernel module

this is a photo of my setup working

and in this link http://www.androidiani.com/forum/android-tips-tricks/303128-usb-over-ip.html#post3930920 you can find some resource for android device (I'm trying to use it to remote control the 5D mark III) I have found in the net.

Hi again,
As I say in my other note I still want to get one of the two devices cam ranger or iusbportcamera. Still trying to gain more info to make my decision. Anyone know if either product can access/run ML? Any tidbit of info is appreciated
I got a case adapter to allow me to use the magnifying screw on lenses on my IPad. I use CamPro XL app.  It is really nice to be able to use the iPad's big screen and know that what you see is what you get. Also being able to use the iPads touch screen is reall nice.

Thanks,

John Gerard
