Newbie needs help with 7D software

I was hoping my first post on the forum would be a happy one, but as luck would have it I am stuck and could use some help, please. I am trying to load the ML software for 7D on my camera. It looks as thought I have the software installed as I can see it indicated in the firmware window on the 7D however, I don't get any of the menus that I have seen on the videos. I put the ML folder on my card by itself and not inside one of the other folders such as Misc or DCIM but the screen shows firmware loading, then goes blank. It also gives a warning at the top of the screen indicating that I must load ML files. So, after four hours of trying different things, I have thrown in the towel and need some direction.

format your card and copy ML files again, just to make sure.
