Any Updated, 100% working, no-frill VMWARE image with 2.3 build somewhere?

Hello all,

Yes this looks like a lazy topic, but after fighting with the compiler on windows/cygwin (and failing) for too long, and assuming the same will probably happen if I repeat with a fresh ubuntu install, I was wondering if anyone manage to make an updated VMWARE image...or clear, working step-by-step instruction to update the old vmware image to the stable 2.3 build?

Thanks all!

Download the pre-built compiler and hg clone the source tree. Seems fairly simple to me. Never had a problem with compiling ML.

I've downloaded the VM located at:

http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=6161.msg85604#msg85604

(which is the VM#3 mentionned here: http://magiclantern.wikia.com/wiki/Build_instructions/550D)

Did the command:
hg clone -r unified https://bitbucket.org/hudson/magic-lantern/ && cd magic-lantern

When compiling I'm getting a load of "warning: Interworking not enabled" warnings... from what I've read thats normal...

Seems to compile the autoexec.bin but its 412K (550D.109) compared to the 1.6MB from the official ML 2.3 downloadable binary.... isn't the unified supposed to be the same as the downloadable binaries? Features disabled or am I missing something else?

Thanks

make 550d probably does that bin... make unified would make a unified

Boboche

Sorry for my "noobism" but:

make unified
make: *** No rule to make target 'unified'.  Stop.

brain fart: make all

But why bother, you'll never use 6D, 5d2/5d3, etc. I just run bin specific to my camera.

Boboche

Because I'm trying to figure out what is the diff between my compiled 400-something Kb 550D firmware, the 2.9MB "all" compile and the 1.6MB version from the 550D of the ML 2.3 version.

Download the commit tagged 2.3-stable from here.

;)

I am *sooooo* excited.  That VM is working just great! Compiling away right now.  Can't wait to experiment.  THANKS LOADS.

BTW, I tried running "sudo apt-get install flex" and get prompted for a password for magiclantern.  I probably don't need to install "flex" but probably do need the password for magiclantern.
Have I missed it somewhere? Can you provide it?
