Hi folks,

Any chance to get a "ready to use" file - even with needs of reloading at each start?

wbr
Only a few developer has the tool to make a .fir ML version but everybody can compile the autoexec.bin.
What do you mean ready to use?
Put an ML folder from the 7D alpha2, get the 3 files from the link below and it is ready to use.

Edit: put the 7D_203.sym and the dual_iso.mo to ML/MODULES
EOS 7D Mark II, EOS 7D, EOS 5, EOS 100 + lenses (10mm to 300mm), 600EX, 550EX, YN600EX x 3
EOScard, EOS DSLR firmwares, ARMu, NiControl, etc.: http://pel.hu/down

edit:  There's an updated module in the test build folder in the above link you can try.  Not sure if you need to update the bin file, but I've included it anyway.  It's an ugly hack to the module which will be missing menu entries (dynamic range gained - midtone overlapping), but if it works!
It can load the dual_iso module.  :)

I have no luck with Audionut's latest build @reply 721 neither.
What's wrong?
Try the test build folder...

After testing both versions for 3 hours I can say that their behavior looks like identical. All of them hangs camera like a hell. It is hard to take pairs of photos - one with dual iso and regular one. Camera very often throws Err 70. Removing battery helps. Also camera often hangs while saving dual-iso photo to card, switching to LiveView (with Dual ISO module "ON" of course).
Current version of cr2hdr does not works properly with default settings (Recovery ISO 1600). It returns DNGs with strange colors. But if I set recovery ISO to 100 and camera ISO to 1600 it works as intended.
Option "Dual ISO - Alternate frames only" was throwing Err 70 every time I tried it.

Pelican

Interesting...
For me it's worked like a charm. No hangout, no ERRxx, nothing.
Edit:
Yes, cr2hdr makes pink/magenta in the highlights in both situation (100-1600, 1600-100)

Tried again both versions of dual_iso.mo from last build. Same results - there are very unstable. ML works like a charm until I enable dual ISO module :(

Audionut

I would only use it in photo mode for now, not live view.

I have no idea where to start to fix pink highlight problem.

I just take 1 to 30 pictures in photo mode and it hangs with err70 or card led lights and camera does not respond forever.
Pink highlights looks like a problem of cr2hdr because CR2's embedded jpeg-preview is ok.

Audionut

I'll try and post one more build tonight when I get home.

I'm about to try it. Already enabled autoboot, do you think is safe enough?

It's safer then the last build, as I added an undefine back in that I took out earlier.

I'd recommend staying under ISO 800 as per this post.

Still hangs with Err70. First time I took 3 photos and got Err70, second time - 5 photos, third time - 3 photos.

It seems that I'm doing something wrong.. I think I have another .FIR file... I don't have the new menu, it's exactly like the old alpha, I don't have the modules tab and it doesn't autostart after reboot... what am I doing wrong?? Is there a compiled .FIR that I'm missing?

Thanks!!!

tonybeccar

Ok, I see I have to follow a series of steps first!! Now I can't find anywhere the 1.2.3 firmware :/

tonybeccar

Putting the pieces together now.. it's quite complicated! Anyone can help me patch the 1.2.3 FIR with the bsdiff patch??? I have 2 files.. bsdiff and bspatch.. what to do? From the cmd I dont quite understand how to patch que .fir.. it asks for a newfile but never creates it.. Please a more detailed guide??? :)

Thanks!!

Check out the signature of Pelican and click on the link.
In his folder you can find "eos7d123.exe".

Had multiple orgasms when the camera autobooted ml. Dual ISO module loaded without any error but shows Error 70 when i press the zoom button :/ Everything else that worked on the alpha2 is working. Plus now my camera autoboots ML!. Haven't tested movie restart yet.

This is awesome and i want to thank everybody who worked on this.

If someone needs and if i have some free time i can make a noob guide with detailed steps, with my weird english of course.

I released a new version of EOScard with some bugfix of unzipping ML files/folders.
I've also made Audionut's release available for the software, so EOScard can install 7D ML alpha2 with dual iso and file manager modules from now.
I still haven't experience any crash or error with this build but others have serious problems so use it for your own risk...

EDIT: Which .fir should we use with this? I used the alpha 2 .fir but it just loads regular alpha2 when firmware updating, wouldn't autoboot and has no modules on.

EDIT2: How do you use bsdiff with 1.2.3? I tried:

bsdiff oldfile newfile patchfile

But it produced nothing.

You have to use bspatch instead. Is in the .zip.
