I realize some things that seem simple end up not being, but I'm hoping this would be a simple yet effective addition.

I'm simply hoping to use the AF assist beam as a recording indicator. It could either be continuous or pulse every X seconds (preferably user selectable). This would be helpful for working with a jib or other non-manned camera, and also so that actors have a very clear understanding of when recording has begun (though this should be obvious). External recording indicators have been around a long time though, I dont think I need to go into much more depth as to why it would be useful.

The only downfalls would be obviously increased battery usage and possibly the light affecting the shot. That wouldn't be an issue in outdoor recording, and one of the reasons I suggest having a full time on option (it would be far less noticeable to have an extra weak fill light than a blinking/pulsing light).

Just a thought, let me know what you think. Thanks
