Did some testing with the video modes on Pre Alpha 2. I filmed some footage at 1080 24p. The normal bitrate usually comes out at around 50mbps. I upped it to 1.3x and it came just over 60mbps. I tried 1.4x but for some reason it went back to 50mbps. Anyone else try this?
I did try vbr qscale -16 and it's still 40-55. :/

EOS-M gets up to 70MB/s even with flush rate and "cbr" numbers cranked up all the way. Both of these should support ALL-I/IPB/IPP with some hacking.

You can get 10mbit/s with QScale -16 and it's perfectly normal. You can also get 80mbit/s with QScale +4 and that's also perfectly normal.

And "up to X" means X is an upper limit (that is, you can get any value equal to X or lower).

How/where can you see the actual bit rate that your recording at?

Is it displayed on screen or are you checking the footage afterwards?

Thanks

I recorded some HDR video tests today and it varied from 68 to 72 mbps, very happy with the results :)
Used a SanDisk Extreme Pro 95mb/s SD card and CBR at 1.5x

if you're on a pc, go to the start icon and right-click to open the explore file utility. Find the file and right-click on it. Then select properties, then details.

The only thing I know of thats equivalent to that is the "Get info" button for any file... but it doesn't show that detail...

If someone does know that would be awesome, otherwise I'll just check a few of my files in windows.

Tried VBR Qscale at -16 and it worked great. Got 67mbps data rate on the file. (audio included) seems like a bit of a boost. I tried it at +4 like someone mentioned but it looks like ass! It's nice to have a hack, even if the bitrate is a minor improvement. The focus peaking is what I really enjoy having. Thanks ML team!  ;D

You can choose auto whitebalance from the normal canon menu. Also, you're suppose to report bugs from the Alpha 2, that's why it was released.

Hi Nanomad, thanks for the ML  ;)
most of the stuff works perfectly.
good luck for next update

ejszarny

my test results:
focus peaking working (made some mistakes, but working :)  )
fps override noes not work - no fps change and after 2-3 seconds recording stopped.

can i begging for hdr bracketing? :)

pemstudio

The option HDR is serially in a camera but it gives a file which is connected, so version with ML will be very useful. I would like to ask about an absorbing with adding of this function.  Does it need many work?

satriani

Guys, please be so kind and describe issues in detail. This can be very important for developers.
Thanks.

I i woud like to reproduce your not working fps. What setting should I put my camera in , what exact setting should I use in fps ?  Please give as much information as possible.

As fps is working for me in some settings, and some not, I wonder why it is not working at all for you.

Please let me know so we can fix this

Hi everybody,
thanks for ML!!! Really good work!

I have foung a bug:
1) when I took a photo in M mode, view of the photo turned in B&W and after that "overlay saved" -> camera automatickly jump into livewiev
2) after taking photo (in live view mode - doesn´t matter if in fiml mode or photo mode) I have an overlay of last taken picture

Nothing helps (batery out, card cart and so on)
