Protocol for communicating over the USB port
« on: December 28, 2012, 06:29:04 PM »
Hello,

I was wondering if anyone knows where documentation can be found that discusses the protocol the Canon 5D Mark II uses for communicating with a PC for LiveView transmissions and camera control.

I have the SDK, but I would like to be able to access the camera directly over the USB so I can program for devices other than Windows.

Thank You

It talks via PTP but it also uses custom Canon ptp commands. you can check the ptp stuff under contrib on the repository if you want to have a look at a cross platform implementation
