Ive read that to get the best cinematic picture you should record at 48-50 shutterspeed.

Im using ML and can only get 47 then next shutterspeed stop is 60.

how do i unlock 48 or 49 or 50 in videomode shutterspeed?

You can fiddle with the timer values and aim for the correct FPS
EOS 1100D | EOS 650 (No, I didn't forget the D) | Ye Olde Canon EF Lenses ('87): 50 f/1.8 - 28 f/2.8 - 70-210 f/4 | EF-S 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 | Metz 36 AF-5

If we knew how to unlock them, they would be implemented.

Title is wrong - OP is asking about shutter speeds, not FPS.

so there is no way to via magic lantern acces a shutter speed within 48 to 50 in shutterspeed? 50 in shutterspeed would be great.

It seems to function without magic lantern though? (according to many MarkII owners)?

Because Canon rounds the value.

In PAL you get 1/50, in NTSC you get 1/60. 24p is always NTSC.

favvomannen

Ah. but on youtube someone (without ml could record in NTSC 24p with 1/50) becase 1/50 at 24p was more cinematic than 1/60

shoulr i rather go 1/47 or 1/60 you guys think?

KarateBrot

At 24 fps you want to use a shutter speed of 1/48s (180° rule).

|1/48s - 1/60s| = 0,0042s
|1/48s - 1/47s| = 0,00044s

1/47s is 10 times closer to 1/48s than 1/60s would be (and btw. 1/47s is two times as close as 1/50s would be). 1/47s and 1/48s are practically the same shutter speeds. So I wouldn't bother. Just use the 180° rule as close as possible and you'll get your desired look. In this case 1/47s is the best and most precise setting you can choose.
If you donate a RED EPIC to me you officially are very cool ;)

Aha. so its very good filming in 1/47th

THx. Really helped me here :)
