Hi,

I am looking into the best battery options for lasting the longest time. (for use in a camera trap)
I am thinking of the following:

Battery grip with eneloop XX high capacity batteries 2,500mAp - total of 15 Amps
Battery grip with high capacity batteries 3,000mAp - total of 18 Amps
Battery grip with canon batteries 1,120mAh - total of 2.24 Amps

Or use lorry batteries wired up to cameras with a transistor to give upto 70Amps

Any one any experience with any of these and have any advice?

Thanks

15 or 18 amps? Lol, your calculations are waaaay off.
2500mAh regular batteries will give you 2500mAh capacity, as they are connected so they get to the 7.4V the camera requires.

Cheap chinese battery, for 20$ you can buy something nice.
Just note that they are 12V batteries so you have to find a way to bring the voltage down to 7.4 or even 8V (it is ok for our cameras) .

Exactly... you could buy a camera rig that supports sony NPF batteries which will give you plenty of battery power

or you could buy loads of china-brand canon's batteries and a couple of chargers.

If you have a wall adapter you can save the dummy battery and just buy or build something to reduce the voltage to 8V and plug it into it.
Or, if you are brave, you can build an external power socket into the camera, it isn't too hard.

There are some battery grips that you can buy that have a 240v mains power input, so you can run it forever onwards from a wall socket if that's an option for you.

Gadgetinfinity.com has a few variations, I got the cheaper one for 600D without it, but now kinda wish I bought the mains power version.

Another option is that there are Remote controlled car batteries which are 7.2v already and 5000-6000mah, you could modify a battery grip to accept one of these.
