Hi everyone,

I'm considering using Magic Lantern but I've heard from some sources that there's a very low chance of bricking the camera.

Given that the risk factor is >0%, I've been seriously reconsidering

At the same time, there are a ton of benefits to Magic Lantern like shooting RAW Video.

Intending to be installing it on EOS 600D and maybe the EOS 7D.

I've heard from some sources that Magic Lantern can reduce the reliability of the camera (e.g.: not turning on, and as a result, needing to reinsert the battery)

Are those risks actually true (>0%)?

If they are, any way to avoid it?

If, for some reason, there are adverse effects (I hope not), any way to fix it?

There is a non-zero chance your cam is going to be the first verified user case (outside dev dungeons) of bricking a cam for good.

There is always some risk: https://wiki.magiclantern.fm/faq#is_it_safe

In practice, the risk of bricking seems very low.  Have you found any reports from ML users where it was definitely ML that caused damage?

To your other question, certainly ML can crash while in use.  This is inconvenient, but restarting the camera fixes it.  Some features are more reliable than others, and some cams are better supported than others.
