Hey, I'm running into issues with Magic Lantern. I know most people recommend using the Sandisk Extreme Pro 170mb/s cards, so I'm wondering if my card could be the issue?

I'm using Danne's raw video build, and the video features are not working for me. It seems like the camera is too slow or something. I can't access the menu from video mode, but I can get it open in photo mode. I can change the video settings there, and it doesn't look glitchy when I put it in 1080p mode, but it still won't open the menu and also won't even record any video. It seems like the whole video mode is fighting with the firmware or something.

I'm gonna try a full reinstall, but has anyone else noticed this? Could it be my card, do I need to get the recommended one?

Thanks!

Sorry but this card won't get you anywhere using Danne's builds. See https://www.cameramemoryspeed.com/reviews/micro-sd-cards/
95 MB/s is for read only and write rate sucks.

I recommend Samsung EVO Plus or Pro which offer slightly less performance than Extreme Pro but offer a far better price/perfomance ratio. At least where I live. Make sure to get an "overclocked" one with R120-R160 rating.

I tell what I do to make sure I don't get weird things happening and get max performance with Danne's builds, it worth trying:
First, from the normal Canon menu, image quality to RAW only, set Focus mode on "MF" and Movie rec size to 1080p 24fps
Then, on the Magic Lantern menu, set these options if not set already:
Display -> kill canon gui = on
Movie -> raw video -> small hacks = af off
Enable Advanced and:
Movie -> raw video -> more hacks = lvface+aewb

Hey thanks for your help!

In the end I got the SanDisk Extreme Pro 128gb 200mb/s read 90mb/s write. I'm having the same issues though, I just tried uninstalling and reinstalling also.

When I'm in video mode I have all kinds of issues.  I can't start any recording.  If I hold down the trash it brings up the circle, fills it in, but won't load the menu.  If I touch the screen it brings up the standard menu (not the quick select menu) and doesn't let me navigate that menu / choose any options.

Does anyone know what is going on?

Good news! I figured it out, so I actually read in the "Danne's crop_rec_4k experiments for EOS M" thread that if the ISO was set to Auto on the Canon menu then you wouldn't be able to access the magic lantern menu, and sure enough that was the issue! Curious to see how the other card performs now. I am using the Sandisk one and getting good results so far!
