Hello  8)

I would like tu know something:

I've a Canon 550D, and I shoot mainly in 640 * 480 in low light.

it's possible to have 4 physical photosites to create one logical pixel in 640*480 ?

thanks in advance  ;D

Yes, there are many free video editors that do that. I use VirtualDub.

;)

yes, i know virtualdub ^^

but physicaly, it's possible directly in the dslr to do it ?

Normally, (it is not the true scale of course ^^), when you make a movie in 640*480, in the DSLR you
have something like that:

So, each color photosite make the video, and the rest is not used.
So, for the image, you have a regular dynamic, depend of the size of the photosite.

It's possible to do that:

here, 4 photosites (instead of 1) are used to make 1 pixels.
It is as if we had one photosite 4 times bigger ! So, a image four times more dynamic...

Possible ?

Oversampling additional photosites, wouldn't that make the image less sharp?

No, I do not think it's the same as having photosites largest base.

Nokia already done this trick on his Nokia 808 PureView, a smartphone with a 41 megapixel sensor that provided an image can be 8 Mpixels ...
