Hi everybody --

I wanted to give the ML community a heads up. My new feature is premiering at SXSW next weekend. I shot the film on a 5d3 with MLV RAW. I don't know if it's the first feature at SXSW that used MLV RAW buuuuuuut I think it's pretty neat that a prosumer stills camera from 10 years ago is holding its own at a major American film festival. I gotta say, many thanks to Magic Lantern for making it possible.

The film is a supernatural thriller/dark comedy called JETHICA -- https://schedule.sxsw.com/2022/films/2053839

Don't let anybody tell you the camera isn't good enough.

P.S. I shot my previous feature with the same set up too. It's streaming on Amazon -- https://www.amazon.com/gp/video/detail/B09L77C3SG/ref=atv_dp_share_cu_r

Care to share some details?

Lenses, lighting etc.

Looks like you shot everything wide open, intentionally I suppose, though I have to admit it is not my cup of tea.

Anyways, congratulations! The 5D3 truly is more than good enough.
once you go raw you never go back

Almost all of Youngstown was shot on the Canon 50mm 1.2L with a variable ND and yes, wide open and yes, a choice.

For lighting, I had a flexfill and an Aputure Light Storm LS1s. I also had the 24-70, 70-100 and 100mm macro but only used them for a couple shots each.

Jethica is almost entirely the Canon 35mm 1.4L with a circular polarizer and the DOF isn't extreme like in Youngstown so maybe that'll be more up your alley. :)

Youngstown trailer is adorable. Congrats on your accomplishments and with ML gear no less!
