Shooting footage with LUT applied in camera.
« on: June 25, 2021, 05:40:17 AM »
I was just wondering if its possible to apply LUT inside camera before its actually being encoded to h.264.

The idea here is to pre-shoot some test footage, correct it in Premiere for instance, export .cube file and use it as real-time correction in camera. I'm sure this will give a singnificantly better resaults. As we all know grading encoded footage is pain in the ass because there is not much information left after codec did it's job. But footage being shot in raw, corrected and exported to h.264 looks decent. As far as LUT is basically remaping colors and some other values I think it will work :-) OBS studio does)

Now of course we all dream of having HEVC inside our dslrs but that is a whole different story...

I use Canon 650D.
