How do I record 5x view on a 50D

Good afternoon
Newbie with ML - installed on my 50D and I can record video successfully.
In M mode I can hit the zoom button to get the Live View at 5x (or 10x) but when I start the recording it switches back to 1x.
Before I tried ML I would hook the camera up to a laptop which would allow recording of zoomed in Live View - - but I can't seem to do it in ML.

FYI - I am trying to video Jupiter through a telescope using the 50D while zoomed to 5x

Crop mode recording to memory card with 50D requires RAW/MLV recording.
Modules tab -> mlv_rec.mo or mlv_lite.mo

There are cams offering zoomed recording using native H.264 mode: 600D (with and without ML), 650D, 700D, EOS M.

Thanks - that did the trick!  I thought I would figure out the basics before trying RAW - but not the way to go in this case.
