Hello all, this is my first time operating a camera and shooting in raw.

I'm blown away at the quality coming out of my eos-m (thank you Danne!) but I just realized I'm bottlenecked by my laptop in handling such large files. A 1 minute video at a size of 2 GB is a bit shocking to me. Playback on MLVAPP and adobe premiere is extremely choppy.

Are there any menu items that you recommend for me to change such as bitrate or resolution? Is there such a thing as an optimal setting for "general purpose" youtube videos?

Thank you!

Danne

Export h.264 in mlv app. Medium size should do.

10bit and lossless raw is lowest with good quality and smaller size than 12 or 14 bits, 8 bit is much worse and i would not recommend it.Try to film in 10 bit lossless instead of uncompressed raw.

Render proxies and cut with those. After that, just edit the used files in MLVApp again, render HQ files. Relink and export in your NLE.
With that I can produce HQ videos on a 9 years old laptop without any problem.
RAW is big - sure - this is why it looks so good.
