nature video using resolve ACES + REC2020 @ISO 111

I shot this new episode today, back again at iso 111, and it was a great experience after doing the last one at stock iso 200.

exposing was so much easier, and doing the grade was the easiest yet.  I devised a new method for truly capitalizing on the strength of iso 111: the clean shadows...

the same setup for resolve as outlined in the original thread for ACES+REC2020, but here's how i graded this time:

exposure +5 (yes!)
reduce gain with the wheels until everything looks nice
add a touch of highlights to taste.

I used the same settings verbatim for every shot.  zero fiddling.

this was breathtakingly fast and easy.

as always, no noise reduction.

The contrasts is legit on the barks of these lovely trees meanwhile you still can see details on the highlights w snow and whatnot. It’s almost like Dual-ISO without the interlaces. All I can say is simply amazing @70MM13!

here's part 2, filmed the next day with lots of full sun on the snow, creating nice sparkling highlights :)

this colourspace combination really is fantastic!

Damn, that's beautiful. I wouldn't be able to distinguish between these images and the ones recorded with RED cameras.

and especially thank you for pointing me in the direction of rec2020!

i wouldn't have gotten these results without combining aces and rec2020.  i always knew the potential was there in my footage, but i was never able to bring it to the surface - until now!

the 5d3 is a very powerful beast

here's the third in this subset of my series on forest bathing, specifically about zen...

i got really lazy and loaded up the footage into the resolve file for the prior episode and made zero adjustments!  i like the way it "messed up" the colour slightly.  instant art!
