ML without memory card?

I want to run my camera without it's memory card.  Will ML work?  Alternatively, can I insert the card to get ML, but tell the camera not to write images to it?  Thanks!

Magic Lantern startup process requires reading files located on the card.. Much like a program run at startup on your PC. And some settings are stored in files located on the card.

Running ML from a card not used for storing pic/movies is supported in those cams with two storages. At the moment only 5D3 is able to do this.
