Hey,
just did some videoshots with my new cf card (KB 1066x) yesterday. Strangely, some of the files are not .MLV , instead they are .MOV
However, these files have the same huge bitrate and the typical lines from DualISO. During the whole day i never used HDR, only DualISO
on and off. Belowthe metadata from MediaInfo and a screenshot from a frame taken with VLC.

This was just a short clip, but i got way longer clips with the same phenomen. They are playable in VLC without problem and even with sound, however of course the
lines of DualISO are there and completely destroying the picture.
So do you guys have any idea how that happened and how i could still convert these videos to normal ones?

Notice: Mb and not MB.

The file size is only 16 MB, if it was raw that clip would be only about 7-8 frames
once you go raw you never go back

NeoUnleashed

So how much Mb/s would be raw? I thought around 100 Mb/s would be the limit of the 5D Mark III

Walter Schulz

RAW without compression:
Horizontal pixel * vertical pixel * bit depth * frame rate / 8 = Bit rate in Bit/s. Divide by  1048576 to get MiByte/s.

Again: 101 Mb/s (as shown by MediaInfo) = 101 MBit/s =  12.625 MByte/s
Depends on MediaInfo's definition of "M". Could be either 1000x1000 or 1024x1024.

Alright, so there's no way to revive these videos?

a1ex

Not without significant effort. The H.264 data is resized from a smaller buffer, so you'll have to compute individual gains for every single line; besides, these are not linear (the mapping from raw to yuv is unknown and depends on the picture style and settings; can probably be reverse engineered) and some color info is completely lost. You may want to try this H.264 vertical stripe fix as a starting point, but the problem was a lot easier there (much smaller variations). Still, it might be enough to salvage something.

I wonder how you managed to record these clips in the first place, since Dual ISO can only be enabled when recording RAW. If that was with H.264 proxy, you should also have a MLV with the same contents => problem solved. Otherwise, you should find a way to reproduce and report back.
