MLVFS + Davinci 14.3 = the return of magenta patterned highlights?

Hi there,

I shot an short acoustic session last nigh, followed my usual workflow (MLVFS pc --> Davinci) and when I got home to start sorting my LUTs out / matching my different lenses, I realise that my highlights are back to the early magenta days!

There's a few weird facts to add: this happens when i choose the "recover highlights" option (it usually gives me great results and I never experienced any issue in the past). The magenta also totally disappears when playing back the video within Davinci!

The issue is obviously that i cannot possibly grade with these weird highlights on and even if I tried to ignore them -i did the test-, the export bakes them in!!!

I shot standard 14bits MLVs although I'm running ML 4k crop mode (installed on SD on 19/12/2017 - sorry i don't know what version that was) and Davinci Resolve 14.3. I tried alternate worflows (RAW_FLOW, MlRAWviewer) but nothing helped...

What am I not getting? Is it a question of colour space? Does Davinci 14.3 decodes ML raws differently?

Thank you for your time,

Danne

I have some issues downloading your file. Maybe it´s my work or something else.

Tgra

is that any better? https://ufile.io/f0rqb
(If there's a preferable way for me to transfer that file, plz let me know)

The magenta is fairly easy to grade off but It's an extra strep and I really don't know what the patterns correspond to and also why it has just started now..  ???

It´s working but slow. You could share a dng while downloading?

sure thing!

ps: the shot is overexposed as it finishes facing sunset but somehow, when the sensor pretty much directly pointed at the Sun, I'm not getting any odd colour ???

I can´t get any pinks when viewing in acr or developing with dcraw. Maybe some setting in resolve.
I would recommend this app:

You can fiddle with white level and see if that will help. you can run exiftool commands on your dng file. white level is now 16200. How will the file look if lowered to 15000 for instance.
exiftool "-WhiteLevel=15000" *.dng

old topic but still worth replying to it for those that could read it. It is a bug in Resolve, you need to mess with the WB in the raw panel to get rid of it.
