Hi Everyone,

I am brand new around here but have been shooting with Magic Lantern on a T2i for years. (Huge thank you to the development team, the software is incredible!) Just yesterday I stepped up to the big leagues with a 5D3 and in the first hour installed Magic Lantern. Although I'm familiar with ML, I've never tried to shoot raw video before - but I was eager to give it a go.

No story or anything, sorry! Really just a test with a couple 'iffy' clips.

Shooting the shaded buildings mixed with bright sunlight was a good test for the camera's dynamic range. Definitely messed up exposure a couple times and introduced a lot of noise in some shots. I'm really happy with the color coming out of the files and how much I can push it around. Need to figure out the rest of the workflow and grading, because the image doesn't seem to match what I've seen some of you produce.

Any tips or tricks?! Would love any feedback you have  :)

Thanks!

5D Mark III with 16-35 f4L IS
Shot at 30fps and conformed to 24fps. 1920 x 818. 14 bit raw. Converted MLV using MLRawViewer and MLV Converter, then processed the DNGs in After Effects with Camera Raw before editing in Premier.

Between After Effects and Premier I exported to H.264, which may have been a mistake as the footage is looking a bit blocky and soft. Also, not sure if there are better settings for the MLV to DNG conversion, I just used the defaults. Working with a LUT in my grading probably also could have helped.

:) I really like high contrast video.
I have a little suggestion.
Would not it be good to lighten the shadows a little?
Great location and light anyway :)
